What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website you visit stores in your browser. It is used to remember preferences, maintain a session or measure how the site is used.
What runs without your consent?
On your first visit to the site, only the essential cookie runs: the cookie that stores your preference. Analytics and measurement cookies are not activated until you explicitly give consent. If you decline, these cookies are never created.
Cookies used
| Type | Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | mc-consent | Remembers your cookie preference so that you are not asked again on every page. | 12 months |
| Analytics | Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) | Measures anonymously how the pages are used. Runs only when you give explicit consent. | Up to 24 months |
| Third party | YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) | Plays the background video on the home page and the product video on the product page. Loaded in privacy-enhanced mode. | Determined by YouTube |
Third-party content
YouTube — in two places, with two different behaviors
There are YouTube embeds in two places on the site, and both are loaded in privacy-enhanced mode via the youtube-nocookie.com domain. They behave differently:
- Home page background video: plays only on desktop screens, after the page has fully loaded and if the reduced-motion preference is off. It is never loaded on mobile devices; only a static image is shown.
- Product video on the product page: uses click-to-load. Until you press the “Play video” button, no request is sent to YouTube; until then, only a static image from our own server is shown.
When a video is played, YouTube may use its own technologies; for details, see Google’s privacy policy.
OpenStreetMap — contact page map
The location map on the contact page is shown via OpenStreetMap instead of Google Maps. This choice is deliberate: the OpenStreetMap embed does not set advertising or tracking cookies. While the map loads, your browser sends requests to openstreetmap.org servers, and your IP address is visible in these requests.
Directions links
The “Open in Google Maps” and “Get directions” links below the map go to Google. As long as you do not click these links, no request is sent to Google.
Visit measurement
Page view counts may be tracked by our hosting provider’s cookie-free measurement tool. This measurement does not write cookies to your browser and does not identify you across devices.
Changing your preference
Your consent preference is stored in your browser under the name mc-consent. You can delete this record by clearing your browser’s site data, which will bring up the preference window again. You can also block all cookies in your browser settings; in that case, some parts of the site may not work as expected.
