What is it?

Dermagran is a hydrogel wound dressing and barrier gel in hybrid amorphous gel form.

What is it made of?

A gel matrix with an amorphous hydrogel structure and a high water content. Its formula contains zinc (Zn) and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCl); these actives are evenly dispersed within the hydrogel’s water-based carrier matrix.

Dermagran is used to support autolytic debridement on necrotic or fibrinous wound surfaces and to prepare the wound bed for healing. Thanks to its amorphous hydrogel structure, it keeps the wound surface continuously moist, which makes it easier for necrotic tissue to soften while contributing to the protection of granulation tissue. The zinc and vitamin B6 it contains create a supportive micro-environment for cellular metabolism and tissue renewal, helping the healing process progress more predictably.

Unlike passive hydrogels that only provide moisture, Dermagran offers a biologically active hydrogel approach. Its amorphous structure readily conforms to irregular and deep wound beds, while the zinc and vitamin B6 it contains create a micro-environment that supports cellular renewal. As a result, the wound bed is cleansed effectively and a more controlled, safer transition to the granulation and epithelialization phases is achieved, making possible a treatment process that is predictable for the clinician and comfortable for the patient.

Indications

Suitable for use in acute and chronic wounds containing necrotic or fibrinous tissue, to support autolytic debridement and prepare the wound bed for healing. It is preferred for creating a moist healing environment in diabetic foot ulcers, venous and arterial ulcers, pressure ulcers, traumatic and surgical wounds and partial-thickness burns, particularly in dry wounds or wounds with low to moderate exudate. Where granulation tissue needs to be protected and the transition to the epithelialization phase supported, it can be used safely together with suitable secondary dressings.

How to use

Assess the wound

Clinically assess the presence of necrosis/fibrin, the exudate level and the condition of the periwound skin.

Cleanse / debride if necessary

Cleanse the wound surface with a suitable solution; if there is thick, hard necrosis, reduce it with an appropriate method.

Apply Dermagran

Spread the amorphous hydrogel in a thin to medium layer (approximately 2–3 mm) so that it covers the entire wound bed; spread it gently into irregular areas to ensure contact.

Cover with a secondary dressing

Secure with an absorbent dressing or film suited to the exudate level; if needed, apply compression over the fixation.

Set the change interval

Change generally daily or every other day, depending on the amount of exudate and the clinical picture; renew earlier in case of drying out, leakage or clinical need.

Reassess at every change

Monitor slough softening, granulation and pain; update the treatment plan according to progress.
