MB-Collagen

Collagen dressings are used to guide healing biologically by delivering collagen — the fundamental building block of wound healing — directly to the wound bed. The natural collagen scaffold provides a suitable micro-environment for cell attachment, migration and proliferation, contributing to more organized, higher-quality granulation tissue. At the same time, by binding excess proteases (e.g. MMPs), it balances the wound environment, protects granulation tissue and helps epithelialization progress in a more controlled way. In clinical practice, it is preferred for achieving more predictable and physiological healing, particularly in chronic wounds with delayed healing.

Compared with many other collagen dressings, MB-Collagen is not a material that “merely fills/covers”; it is a sponge-like collagen matrix that aims to balance the chronic wound micro-environment by binding excessive collagen-degrading enzymes (MMPs) and to activate fibroblast colonization and granulation tissue formation. In addition, its full resorbability, good adaptation to the wound bed and microbial/mechanical barrier function allow more predictable use in clinical practice. Its manufacture in Germany, the absence of a risk of human-derived viral transmission through the use of a porcine source, and the availability of its documentation as a Class III medical device under the MDR (IFU/certificates/SSCP) are also important differentiators in terms of quality and traceability.
